About Jerry Douglas

Dobro™ master and 14-time GRAMMY winner Jerry Douglas is to the resonator guitar what Jimi Hendrix was to the electric guitar — elevating, transforming, and reinventing the instrument in countless ways.

Additionally, Jerry is a freewheeling, forward-thinking recording and touring artist whose output incorporates elements of country, bluegrass, rock, jazz, blues, and Celtic into his distinctive musical vision.

Called “Dobro’s matchless contemporary master” by The New York Times, three-time CMA Musician of the Year award recipient Jerry Douglas is one of the most innovative recording artists in music.

Jerry shines and soars as a solo artist, band leader for The Jerry Douglas Band and his GRAMMY winning bluegrass band The Earls of Leicester, as well as a member of groundbreaking ensembles including Alison Krauss & Union Station, J.D. Crowe & the New South, The Country Gentlemen, Boone Creek, and Strength In Numbers.

Praise For Jerry

  • “Already gleaned several valuable nuances from this course while continually looking forward to spending time with the wealth of material.
Worth every penny and then some!
Kudos to JD and the crew for a job well done. Thank you thank you.” — Course student

  • “I’m loving everything JD touches on and it’s already taught me so many things the initial cost is solidly in the rearview mirror. No exaggeration when I describe it as a “wealth” of practical and helpful “pro” information.
This course is the perfect type and amount of quality information for my growing needs." — Course student

  • “Jerry Douglas’ skill on resonator and lap steel guitar has made him the go-to guy in today’s music circles.” — No Depression

  • “Jerry Douglas, who remains the greatest player the Dobro has ever known.”— Acoustic Guitar

  • “Jerry Douglas is a bandleader, composer and soloist on some of the finest instrumental recordings of the past quarter century”. — All Celtic Music

         Course FAQ

  • WHAT IS THE RESOPHONIC GUITAR WITH JERRY DOUGLAS?

The Resphonic Guitar is a streaming video course brought to you by Modern Music Masters.

Your enrollment covers the price of the Course and includes unlimited access that does not expire.

  • WHAT DO I GET WHEN I ENROLL?

The Resophonic Guitar is a streaming online video course.

You can view all of the videos and content 24/7 with no limits when connected to the internet and using compatible desktop, laptop or mobile devices.

Tablature and instructional documents are downloadable, video lessons are not.

  • HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM OTHER COURSES?

Your instructor is 14-time Grammy winner Jerry Douglas, a master player and a master teacher.

The arrival of streamable online teaching finally allows Jerry to reach many more players and get deeper into subjects that the limitations of earlier methods and in-person appearances cannot rival!

From his early days with The Whites, the Strength in Numbers supergroup, the legendary Allison Krauss and Union Station, countless recording sessions to recent collaborations with Eric Clapton, Jerry Douglas has taken the resophonic guitar all over the world, winning fans and converts on several continents.

  • WHAT KIND OF GUITAR DO I NEED TO USE THIS COURSE?

Jerry teaches using the standard Dobro tuning, Open G (GBDGBD). A resophonic guitar with a square neck is preferred.

You could also use a round-neck reso or even a standard guitar with a raised nut just to get started.

  • WHAT DEVICES CAN I USE TO WATCH THE RESOPHONIC GUITAR?

The Resophonic Guitar can be viewed on desktop computers and mobile devices – phones, tablets, laptops – as long as you have a supported browser on them and they are connected to the internet.

You will need to keep your OS and browser fairly current as how browsers display items changes over time. For example, in the Mac world, you may need iOS 10.6 or higher.

  • WILL I NEED EXTRA BANDWIDTH FROM MY INTERNET PROVIDER?

This should not be an issue. When streaming to your device, the video player attempts to detect your device’s capability and the current quality of your internet connection.

The default setting will auto adjust to deliver a quality viewing experience. If you prefer a resolution other than the ‘auto’ setting choice, you have the ability to select the resolution that is being sent to you.

The settings will typically range from a high of 1080p or 720p to a low of 224p. The lower the resolution setting, the less bandwidth used.
